Gilbert, affecté à l'incinération des vieux billets à la Banque de France, vit avec sa femme, Gisèle, et son jeune fils, Thomas. Quelques années auparavant, il avait formé un groupe de rock avec Serge et le frère de Gisèle, Marc.
